Art & Prose. Season II Announcement
"The Ring of the Nibelung" in the paintings of Marina Podgaevskaya
I’m pleased to announce the second season of the Art & Prose project. In the next seven weeks, every Friday, I will be sharing the works of artist Marina Podgaevskaya, inspired by Richard Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung” tetralogy.
These paintings were created between 2008 and 2012. At the time, I had the privilege to co-develop their concept.
Marina eagerly listened to recordings of The Ring, immersing herself in the story. Together with her and art historian Inna Udovichenko, we discussed Wagner’s philosophical ideas and chose the best ways to translate them onto canvas.
Here are the upcoming themes (links are activated on the day of publication):
09.05.2025 – Wotan’s Farewell to Brünnhilde (Die Walküre)
16.05.2025 – Siegfried and Brünnhilde (Siegfried)
23.05.2025 – Twilight of the Gods (Götterdämmerung)
On the photo: a copy of Renoir’s portrait of Wagner, painted by Marina Podgaevskaya (2008).
See you soon!
